The most important part of pest control is catching an infestation before it has the time to get a foothold in your home. The best way to do this is to have preventative measures like vapor barriers in place so that you never have to call an exterminator. But if you don’t have these measures, what are the signs you should look out for?
- Droppings. If you see suspicious droppings in your cabinets, attic, crawlspaces, etc., it’s very likely that you have a pest problem. Bug droppings are usually small, so keep an eye out for strange black balls or dots on the tops of surfaces.
- Anthills. If there are anthills popping up around your home, it’s likely that the ants will find— or have already found— a way into your home. Calling an exterminator will likely be necessary, especially if you’ve already started worrying about ants getting to unattended sandwiches on the counter.
- Wasp nests. A single wasp nest at the far corner of the backyard might be alright, depending on your personal tolerance levels, but very few people want a wasp nest closer than that to their house. If you have a wasp nest close enough to your house that you’re getting wasps flying in through entrances, it’s likely time to call an exterminator before someone gets stung.
These are only a few of the signs that you might want to look out for if you’re thinking you might need to call an exterminator. Most important of all, remember to trust your gut. If you think the problem is serious, then it’s worth taking seriously and at least booking a consultation with an exterminator.
